I'm not very happy with this one, but I'm including it because it was, in a lot of ways, the dry run for the sketch that followed (here). This was my first really earnest attempt to conquer charcoal - historically a medium with which I've had less success. I've also gone for more dramatic shadows here than in previous sketches - again, with mixed results, but I learned a lot from doing it. I'd like to sketch this photograph again when I'm more comfortable with dramatic shadows.
