I've tended to stick with conventional head-and-shoulder portraits, so this one posted several challenges. There was the matter of anatomy and definition, but also, I had to get the effect of the facial features within a smaller space. I wasn't completely happy with the face, but it's not too bad for a first try at such a small one. One challenge this picture posed was that the lighting in the source picture came from the side on an angle, and this made for a different perspective on the facial lines. I was really pleased with a few small details in this one - the roughed-out embroidery on the dress and the shading and sense of shape on the right under her arm - I think I captured the way she fills out the dress quite well there.
